MES Weekly Update - 3/6

Message from the Principal:

This week, our school proudly celebrated Read Across America Week, with students participating in fun literacy activities, themed days, and classroom read-alouds that highlighted the joy of reading. It was wonderful to see our students excited about books and sharing their favorite stories with one another. Thank you to our teachers and special visitors for helping inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.

Third and Fourth grade students enjoyed listening to brass instruments at the Music in Our Schools Assembly.

MES Weekly Update - 2/27

Message from the Principal:

This week was nothing short of legendary at our school! We were thrilled to welcome special guest author Matt Phelan, creator of the wildly popular Knights vs. Dinosaurs!

During his visit, Matt Phelan shared:

  • How he comes up with his creative (and hilarious!) story ideas

  • Behind-the-scenes looks at his illustrations

  • The process of writing and drawing graphic novels

  • Encouragement for our young writers and artists

Students were completely engaged as he demonstrated live drawing and talked about bringing knights and dinosaurs together in one epic adventure. There were plenty of laughs and lots of inspiration!

To keep the excitement going, we hosted our OBOS (One Book, One School) Read-In event, and what a night it was!

Families filled the building for an evening packed with:

  •  Medieval-themed games

  •  Knight and dinosaur crafts

  •  Delicious food and treats

  • A school-wide scavenger hunt

  •  Reading time together

Thank you to our families, staff, and volunteers who helped make this magical week possible. And a special thank you to Matt Phelan for inspiring our students to imagine boldly and create bravely!
